چکیده
The formation and decay of H 0 2 and 0 2 transients was reinvestigated using oxygenated aqueous t-butanol solutions in the pH range from 1.5 to about 8. The obtained spectroscopic and kinetic characteristics of both superoxide radical forms are: for HÖ2 / m a x = 230 nm (e23o= 130 m moF) , 2 k (H_62 + H 0 2 ) = (3.7 ± 0.2) x 10 dm-mol 1 s 1 , and for Ö 2 /.max = 245 nm (£245 = 215 m moU), 2 k (Ö2 + 0 2 ) < 10 dm mol" s _ l .

Pulse radiolysis of aqueous thiocyanate solution.
The pulse radiolysis of N(2)O saturated aqueous solutions of KSCN was studied under neutral pH conditions. The observed optical absorption spectrum of the SCN(*) radical in solution is more complex than previously reported, but it is in good agreement with that measured in the gas phase. Kinetic traces at 330 and 472 nm corresponding to SCN(*) and (SCN)(2)(*-), respectively, were fit using a Mo...
متن کاملKinetic isotope effect in hydrogen abstraction from 2-propanol by hydrogen and deuterium radicals. A pulse radiolysis Fourier transform electron spin resonance study
Using FT-ESR coupled with pulse radiolysis the kinetics of hydrogen abstraction from 2-propanol by hydrogen and deuterium radicals were studied in aqueous solution. The rate constants were determined from the effective spin–spin relaxation times of the free induction decay of hydrogen or deuterium ESR lines by variation of the 2-propanol Ž . Ž . concentration. The rate constants k and k for H D...
متن کاملApplication of external-cavity quantum cascade infrared lasers to nanosecond time-resolved infrared spectroscopy of condensed-phase samples following pulse radiolysis.
Pulse radiolysis, utilizing short pulses of high-energy electrons from accelerators, is a powerful method for rapidly generating reduced or oxidized species and other free radicals in solution. Combined with fast time-resolved spectroscopic detection (typically in the ultraviolet/visible/near-infrared), it is invaluable for monitoring the reactivity of species subjected to radiolysis on timesca...
متن کاملThe reaction of superoxide radical with catalase. Mechanism of the inhibition of catalase by superoxide radical.
We have studied the time course of the absorption of bovine liver catalase after pulse radiolysis with oxygen saturation in the presence and absence of superoxide dismutase. In the absence of superoxide dismutase, catalase produced Compound I and another species. The formation of Compound I is due to the reaction of ferric catalase with hydrogen peroxide, which is generated by the disproportion...
متن کاملSingle and double reduction of C60 in 2:1 γ- cyclodextrin/[60]fullerene inclusion complexes by cyclodextrin radicals
Spectroscopic and chemical properties of γ-CD• radicals, resulting from the abstraction by HO• radicals of hydrogen atoms, have been investigated using pulse radiolysis. The reactions of γ-CD• radicals with C60 in 2:1 γ-CD/C60 inclusion complexes have been studied in aqueous solutions. It has been demonstrated that the γ-CD_ radicals are reducing species producing C60 monoanion radicals, as wel...
